Newly imagined ways of listening to histories
Amplified Histories is an experimental session in listening, hearing and feeling sto ries from unheard voices. We invite our visitors to encounter a collection of handmade and speculative audio speakers: everyday objects built to exp erience what sound can do when it moves from and through surfaces, walls, ceilings but also bodies.

This tryout is the start of a research int o Keileweg as a spatial history, a place layered with questions of industr y, ownership and different types of workers. Aside from narrating these hi stories, we want to transmit them: through vibration and through the way s ound travels differently depending on what it passes through.

We're interested in what happens when listening turns within: when you stop hear ing a history from a distance and start feeling it move through you by uns ung heroes. Be prepared to be curious, to stand still, to press your ear a gainst something unheard.

Why this, why here?
Keileweg is our starting point. Roodkapje sits on a strip of Rotterdam wit h a dense and contested past. The exciter is a useful metaphor: it doesn't project sound outward into empty air, it conducts it through whatever sur face it touches, making the object itself speak.
