DESCRIPTION:In this workshop people are introduced to the idea of Craft Ani
mism through the\nmaking of talismans\, using repurposed materials\, found
objects and a variety of\nDIY-methods. Craft Animism is concept that enco
urages you to view your tools\,\nyour materials\, your ingredients\, as ac
tive participants in your craft. While\ncrafting\, you are entering into a
dialogue with the tools you are using.\nWhatever you set out to make beco
mes a negotiation between you and the material\nin front of you. Exploring
your own and your "participants" possibilities and\nlimitations. How then
could Craft Animism be applied to discarded objects or\ntrash? Things we
have decided are no longer "of value" to us and that we no\nlonger want in
our lives. This workshop aims to teach participants to think of\ndiscarde
d materials more creatively and responsibly. By crafting talisman\, a\nmag
ical artifact that holds intention\, the participant\n\nand the materials
collaborate on an act of new meaning-making. This workshop is\npart of my
graduation project\, Protocols for Magic\, that seeks more sustainable\nan
d progressive practices of Magic through arts and crafts.
