DESCRIPTION:In Snackbar Frieda\, we use the leftovers that society creates 
	to expose the\ncontradictions of this capitalist system. How is it possibl
	e that so much food\ngoes to waste while people cannot afford groceries? H
	ow can it be more\nprofitable to destroy vast amounts of food than to cons
	ume it? We do not blame\nany of the workers in the food supply chain\, fro
	m those in local marketplaces to\nthose exploited while working the land a
	cross the world. Instead\, we criticise\nthose who profit from maintaining
	 this destructive system\, which harms people\,\nnon-human animals\, and t
	he planet. We also want to speak to consumers. Can we\nrethink what we con
	sider usable food? In most cases\, the food that is thrown\naway is still 
	perfectly good - removing a small bruise leaves an entirely edible\nvegeta
	ble. But our perceptions are shaped by the aesthetic standards imposed by\
	nsupermarkets\, which largely control how we access food. Moreover\, in th
	eir\neffort to keep shelves constantly full\, they systematically over-pur
	chase\,\nleading to large amounts being discarded.\n\nIn Snackbar Frieda\,
	 we experiment with alternative food (re)distributions based\non solidarit
	y and self-organisation. We want to inspire others to take\ninitiative for
	 themselves and their neighbours. There is an abundance of free\nfood\, an
	d we can share tips and tricks so that more people can make use of this\nr
	esource! On 10 April\, from 12:30 to 18:00 (or until the food runs out)\, 
	we will\nset up a market at the Adrianaplein in Oude Westen\, where everyo
	ne is welcome to\ntake food for free. At 18:00\, we will cook together usi
	ng whatever remains\,\nfollowed by a screening of the film The Gleaners an
	d I by Agnès Varda.
