DESCRIPTION:Roodkapje x Yarrow Ballet x Operator presents: Palmbomen II\, M
	AHA & DJ Cat A\nLula\nDoors: 20:00\n\n**Palmbomen II **\nAntwerp based\, P
almbomen II (Kai Hugo) began his music career as Palmbomen in\n2011\, rele
asing his first EP "Moon Children" on the Dutch label\, Night Gaunt\nRecor
dings. Palmbomen II creates a space where lo-fi warmth and wistful\nmelanc
holy meet danceable rhythms and electronic melodies. Influenced by\ncompos
ers like Tangerine Dream\, Enya\, Larry Heard\, Slowdive\, Theirs is also
a\nstrong connection to old new age cassette tapes\, with Sounds Of The Da
wn. At the\nsame time\, Palmbomen II listens to modern musicians like Kate
NV\, Dean Blunt and\nmany others. Film and series are also an important s
ource of inspiration\, for\nexample by watching episodes of The X-Files. I
n 2018\, Hugo released the\nfour-part Memories of Cindy which told the sto
ry of her hometown of Carmel\nVista\, California.\nIn addition to music\,
Palmbomen II has also created art installations and\nsoundtracks for films
\, series and video games. In 2019\, Hugo started his own\nrecord label ca
lled World of Paint\, releasing artists like Antenna\, Cindy\,\nBetonkust
and Kleine Kova. Recently (2026) he released his own tape: dancing and\ncr
ying.\n\nMAHA\nMAHA's mission is to use her creativity as a tool of resist
	ance against\noppression\, prejudice and labels\, - and a celebration of s
elf expression and\ncommunity. It extends to her music\, specifically nami
	ng X-Ray Spex's Poly\nStyrene\, Sinead 0' Connor\, Amyl & The Sniffers and
Grace Jones as sources of\ninspiration.\n"My work i s all about stories t
hat are ignored\, misunderstood\, about people who\ndon't always feel repr
esented in society. About injustice. But also about joyful\nthings. I tack
le different themes that all resonate with me. My goal is to share\nnew pe
rspectives."\n\nWhether MAHA plays on stage or curates and workshops for M
ahazine - all her\nactivities are part of the same trail-blazing language\
, reciprocating and\nfeeding off one another. "Mahazine also addresses the
themes in my music. For\nexample\, injustice or tokenism in the fashion i
	ndustry\, discrimination\, and\ninequity. The zine is\nessentially an exte
nded version of my songwriting. It gives you a bit more\ncontext. "My song
s can be very direct\, and perhaps also a bit bare: my zine acts\nas a kin
d of extension and fleshing out\, where I DIVE deeper into these topics."\
n\nCat A Lula\nSince her first steps in Rotterdam\, Cat A Lula fell in lov
e with electronic\nmusic… Just like anybody else you might say\, but while
she got fantastic input\nfrom roaming around the Schieblok for years and
working now for Operator Radio\,\nher taste expanded to all the precious b
ut dusty corners of music. Playing in\nthe left field of wave\, dub\, funk
	\, jazz\, industrial\, trip-hop\, noise and what\nnot\, she collects all s
orts of downtempo curveballs that she presents on her\nKrokodyle radio sho
	w. All in all\, she finds peace in the weird yet not too\ncorny\, the old
and sleazy\, the hard-hitting yet not too fast\, or dark but funny\nmusic
(if not pathetic). Since 2024\, she also hosts the Sunflowers Radio series
\,\nfeaturing talks with diverse FLINTA* artists or workers of the radio/m
usic\nindustry and showcasing innovative electronic music projects.
