DESCRIPTION:A locker cabinet has appeared in Petteflet. Our own space to st
ore all the\nhoarded electronics/educational aids we need. It's pretty ugl
y\, should we\nbedazzle it? I'd like to extend a warm welcome to all the a
rtsy kids and\ncraftspeople of this city. Bring your own materials and ide
as! The shelf is\nsteel\, about 50x50x100 and painted something like RAL60
00? The paint is chipping\noff in many places and there's plenty rust.\n\n
Also we're gonna do this every week from now on.\n\nLast event was a small
and cute one that brought One More Linux User to this\nworld! They came w
ith a laptop and we installed Linux Mint - a beginner friendly\ndistributi
on that Just Works™. Also gave a little bit of advice on how to start\nwit
h it.\n\nAdditionally 3 access points were freed from the dirty claws of U
biquiti. We\ncast computer spells together sitting by the faint candleligh
t upstairs. The\nspells have worked and the access points are running open
wrt now. It was the\nfirst time doing that for one of the folks that showe
d up and they found it a\npretty okay process. If they can do it\, you can
too! We also yapped about\nreticulum and why it's cool and shared softwar
	e recommendations with each other.\n\n------------------------------------
--------------------------------\n\n1. The city\n\nWe plug in the ethernet
cable into the wi-fi antenna we just set up and watch\nthe LEDs light up.
Six blue lights\, full troughput. We sense the data pouring\ntrough the f
iber veins of the city. A digital mycelium network of pulsating\nlight\, i
nformation exchange - right under our sidewalks\, houses\, roads. Data\nfl
owing trough undersea cables\, copper wires\, and the ether\, finally term
inating\nin a small box attached to the roof of the squat. Data - immateri
al\,\nuntouchable\, abstract and immune to the cold December wind that's b
een bothering\nus for the last hour.\nOn another roof down the street an i
dentical wi-fi antenna senses a new\npresence. The loneliness is over\, ti
me to say hi\, perform a handshake and begin\na quiet radio conversation.
Six blue lights.\n\nDo you dare to take control of the infrastructure you
and your communities rely\non? To float through the rotting arteries the i
nformation superhighway? To tune\ninto the repulsive control exerted by th
e 'smart' city\, by the neoliberal\nsanitation of the old joyous internet?
To make it your playground? Abandon your\nhuman senses and become the mac
hine?\n\n2. The n00b\n\nOr maybe you just want to play and figure out what
a router does\, how it works\,\nand how you can use it for your own goals
? Or better yet\, finally say goodbye to\nthe surveillance-packed dumpster
fire called Windows 11/Mac OS and take back\ncontrol over your devices?\n
\nEither way\, come to Petteflet on a wednesday evening to discover the fr
eedom of\nhacking software and hardware and reclaim your digital autonomy.
All skill\nlevels welcome and no previous experience required. Bring a fu
nky gender and\nsprinkle some social awkwardness on top. This is your walk
-in hours for\neverything remotely computing related. Except issues with W
	indows/macOS. That\nshit's beyond repair.\n\n3. The SNOT\n\nA Squatter Net
work Operations Technician breaks more things than they fix. They\ncut the
wrong cables\, freestyle configurations and drop their laptop in a pond.\
nThey release magic smoke from devices in an attempt to bring them to life
. Use\nthe wrong tools for the job all the time. Eventually though a SNOT
arrives at an\nanswer to the question they themselves posed and sometimes
even understands how\nthey got there. And occasionally they come up with s
omething useful.\n\nJoin the ranks of highly 31337 Squatter Network Operat
ions Team and bite the\ntechnofeudalist hand that disciplines us. This is
your moment to get into\nnetworking and build the infrastructures of tomor
row. \n\nIf you want to get in touch you can use one of available messagin
g programs that\ncommunicate over reticulum such as https://meshchatx.com
	[https://meshchatx.com]\n(on desktop) or https://github.com/torlando-tech/
	columba/releases\n[https://github.com/torlando-tech/columba/releases] (and
	roid)\nor https://apps.apple.com/us/app/retichat/id6762225314\n[https://ap
	ps.apple.com/us/app/retichat/id6762225314] on iPhone (iOS 17.6+). the\nQR
code contains an LXMF address that will print out a message in my room and
\ni'll get back to you in due time :)\n\nNo matter where you go\, everybod
	y's connected.
