Communal Pickle Making & Work-in-progress screening
Salt For Waiting, Vinegar To Remember
Baba took films, many films. And, we watched them to remember (or to be remembered). While watching, we were making Torshi-Iranian pickles; Salt for waiting, vinegar to remember. On Wednesday, April 8th, in the Moezeum, we will watch the Work-In-Progress film that we made based on Baba’s archive, then dance and make Torshi together: washing the vegetables, chopping, and pouring over to preserve. More of us will join in than are able to come in body - spoons, forks and knives on motors will accompany the chopping. They will land on the boards together with echoes from the film.
you will go home with your jar of Torshi.
These are difficult times for Iranians, but we’re better off together than alone.
This workshop is intended as a safer space for difficult emotions, as the film touches on themes of domestic violence.
We invite you to come with your grief, joy, fear, and everything in between.
Please sign up, so we can arrange accordingly (link in bio) *The event has limited space, so make sure you sign up if you wish to come.
