The coming years there will be many transformations around the Island van Brienenoord. The island will be enlarged and Polder the Esch will be excavated. Lara Almarcegui follows these transformations and will invite experts and guests to walk along the places that will transform the coming years, to learn together from them.
These experts have a background in geology, natural science and dredging techniques. The second tour is again with Michiel van der Meulen, Chief Geologist TNO– Geological Survey of the Netherlands, expert in sand. He proposed this tour to be at the place where the new A16 highway crosses the Rotte river – because of the highly interesting geologies of sand at that location.
Lara Almarcegui (Spanje/Rotterdam) explores in her practice the ground and its relation to construction materials, how it is used and how it is being transformed.
Sand Movements is onderdeel van Waterwerken en wordt georganiseerd in samenwerking met OMI.
